I didn’t intend to be a teacher! I started out as a food scientist. After eight years, and a short gig volunteering at a local elementary school, I discovered I wanted to do something more meaningful than cake mix. So, I went back to school at 30 and got my MEd in Elementary Ed. I wasn’t an “I love kids” teacher. I was (and am) an “I love learning” teacher. I still thrill at the opportunity to learn more about my craft and content, and at exploring how to share that learning with a new group of students each year. I’ve taught all content areas over the course of 20 years, but seem to have found my niche in grades 5th-7th.
